Hayes Valley

Hayes Valley is a neighborhood in San Francisco between the historical districts of Alamo Square and Civic Center. Victorian, Queen Anne and Edwardian townhouses rub shoulders with hip boutiques, excellent restaurants, and public housing complexes. Rich in cultural and culinary diversion, this neighborhood seems very inviting.

Hayes Valley is home to many attractions such as Velvet da Vinci, Tinhorn Press/Gallery, Residents Apparel Gallery (RAG), Octavia Haze Gallery, Bucheon Gallery, Hayes Valley Alleys, Octavia Boulevard and Hayes Green.

Hayes Valley is also famous for its shopping. Find some interesting designs and independent shops; browse through the clothing boutiques and the trendy shops; or line up for the most delicious coffee in the Bay area. The neighborhood is a popular destination for style hunters. You can find carved masks from Africa, skeleton figurines, beaded works, ceramics and antique jewelry.

The most active and busy area in Hayes Valley is the Hayes Street.  You can find numerous restaurants such as Absinth on 398 Hayes Street, Arlequin to Go on 384 Hayes Street, or Frjtz and Hayes Valley Grill.

In the evening, enjoy some classic French Cuisine at Jardiniere on 300 Grove Street, where the ambiance is romantic; or go munch on a pizza at Patxis Chicago Pizza on 511 Hayes Street.

The Hayes Valley Inn is located right in the middle of this historic neighborhood. The 28-guestroom, one-star hotel is just steps away from City Hall and the War Memorial.
