Nob Hill

Nob Hill is a little district in San Francisco bordering the intersection of California and Powell Streets. It is probably the most intriguing neighborhood know for being both swanky and diversified. As one of the most affluent neighborhoods of San Francisco, residents, some of San Francisco's richest families, dislike strangers roaming around in their neighborhood.

Hike to the top of the hill, and get fantastic views of landmarks such as Fairmont Hotel and the Flood Mansion. You can find a spillover of Chinese temples and businesses from Chinatown. Toward the Union Square side you can find upscale shopping. Visit the shops and dive bars around the area called Tender Nob. Explore the famous landmarks and popular hotels near Huntington Park.

While you are at Nob Hill, look for the traditional barber shops, old corner cafes and cocktail lounges from years of yore. Go north of Nob Hill and you will get to the Cable Cars Museum. Further down is Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf.

At the intersection of California and Powell Streets, you will come across some of the finest hotels in San Francisco namely, the Fairmont, the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental Hotel, the Renaissance Stanford Court, and the Huntington Hotel.

If you are looking for lodging, try the Fairmont San Francisco. It has a romantic ambiance and is close to Financial District and the eccentric shops of Union Square. For a more affordable stay, check in at the Grosvenor Suites, conveniently located near Fisherman's Wharf.
