Located in the beautiful Laurel Heights neighborhood, this organization is supportive of women artists living in the Bay area. The idea of this non-profit organization came up in 1880s. It all started out as a sketch club, where the female artists would get together to share and scrutinize each others work.
Now, the gallery provides a strong platform to the female artists of San Francisco. The work of these modern artists covers a wide assortment of styles and media including painting, sculpture, prints and photography.
An absolute landmark, this gallery has been open since 1926. While it was originally started by women to raise the representation of women in the arts, today even men are allowed to join. Find local talent from artists of all different media working in their own style of representation.
You will find a rental gallery in the back of the house that can let you try out art before you purchase it. While you are there, check out the interesting and charming jewelry items on display. All jewelry is crafted by local artists.
