Museum of Modern Art

You can find a diversified collection of art at the Museum of Modern Art, including paintings, drawings and sculpture, all under one roof.  Stroll through the museum's five floors of gallery space and see some of the 15,000+ pieces of artwork on display.

See Robert Rauschenberg's brazen-for-the-time Erased de Kooning Drawing and Jeff Koons' goofy and gilded Michael Jackson and Bubbles. Also on display are pieces by Picasso, Matisse, Warhol, Calder and others. Of all the collections, probably, the most significant is the Djerassi collection of roughly 140 works spanning Paul Klee's entire career.

Go through the exhibit of 20th-century photography. Discover works by Ansel Adams, Alfred Stieglitz and Edward Weston. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art also promotes new media arts, as well as projects by up-and-coming local creators, designers, architects and ethnic artists (particularly the local Latino arts community).

Hawthorne Lane (415-777-9779) is a nice restaurant nearby that offers an unforgettable dining experience. Try their Crescenza cheese which is truly outstanding. Later, go and melt away in the upscale crowd at the lively Club NV.

A nice hotel nearby is Marriott San Francisco. It has an opulent ambiance and offers a luxurious stay. The Argent Hotel San Francisco is also located nearby and is just three blocks from Union Square.
