The Golden Gate Bridge, more popularly known as the San Francisco Bridge, was constructed at a cost of $35 million in a period of four years. The design of the Golden Gate Bridge reflects an art deco theme and is famous around the world due to its beautiful structure. The bridge was opened to motor traffic on May 28, 1937, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt through a telegraph key.
If you want to take pictures, go to the Marin Headlands side of San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge. You can get excellent views of the Fourth of July fireworks and watch freighters and sailboats cruise under the bridge. Enjoy a view that stretches from Golden Gate Park and Twin Peaks to the Bay Bridge and beyond.
Later, enjoy top quality sushi at nearby Sushi Ran (415-332-3620). This San Francisco restaurant is airy and decorated with original artwork. Nectar Wine Lounge is a swanky wine bar five miles away, with a collection of 900+ bottles.
The Hotel Drisco is three miles from the bridge and offers daily complimentary continental breakfast and evening wine tasting. Another nice hotel nearby is the Hotel Del Sol, which was recently refurbished and offers a comfortable stay. Mexican Museum, San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park and Lombard Street are less than a mile away from Hotel Del Sol.
