It is one of the most anticipated events of the year for good reason. San Francisco's Chinese New Year Festival & Parade add to the vibrancy of Chinatown. Coinciding with the lunar cycle, the exact date of the festival changes every year but usually falls somewhere at the end of February.

The parade, started in the 1860s, is one of the country's oldest and one of the best. It is one of the few remaining night illuminated parades in the country. It is also the largest Asian festival outside of Asia. General viewing is free but if you are looking to grab prime seating on the bleachers the cost is $30.
